I don’t use messenger much, but am part of few community groups like Buy Nothing where group members use messenger to communicate details about where to pick up items Being given away. Unfortunately, at present there does not seem to be an option to allow messenger to notify you when a request to communicate through messenger is received or accepted. This means when someone genuinely wants an item, they may appear to be unresponsive because they don’t realize they have a messenger request to communicate. it would be nice to have an option to allow messenger notifications around requests to inform people who aren’t already connected with about requests. Also, there is a bug that is creating red badge notifications within Facebook when you have messages in messenger and reading the message does not clear the red dot notifications in Facebook. so far the only thing that clears it is uninstalling messenger, which is super annoying.

I am totally blind and a voiceover user on an Apple iPhone. I have used messenger for many years and have been very thankful for it, but the last several updates have had the same issue. They were resolved until the next update, and then Messenger was broken again. I am still able to type in text fields and access various information in the app, but messenger jumps up to the previous page of messages and continuously reads down until it gets to the end. I can’t hit the back button to leave my current chat. I can’t get into a text field, I can’t do anything once it starts reading, and while it is reading, and I’m trying to type or anything, it is entering random letters under my finger, but because voiceover is very slowly reading down the last two or three pages worth of messages, it isn’t telling me that I’m inputting things so that if I don’t check, when I send my next message, it’s full of gobbledygook. I can’t stop it from reading or see the current text field that I am in without leaving the app completely and re-entering it again. It’s very annoying and it slows my productivity down a lot.

You just DELETED my rating and review. That’s a BAD look. It’s not the users fault YOU keep having problems with security, privacy, and breaches… stop punishing users for your mistakes. You already had me off FB because it is toxic and you only care to get rid and punish certain people and now you are messing up the only thing you didn’t completely mess up… and why a SIX digit pin? I use 4 digits on devices so you forcing 6 is inconvenient on top of the ALREADY inconvenient forcing you to add a unnecessary security step you CAN’T opt out of. AND it’s randomly saying no internet AGAIN! You guys need to FIX your stuff instead of adding unnecessary stuff. It was fixed for awhile but you’ve started that up again so now even in the middle of a conversation the app randomly has no internet for seconds at a time… You are good at adding unnecessary things to your apps that in return mess up the app by somehow reinserting bugs and errors that have been fixed previously. Idk how you keep doing it unless it’s on purpose. You do it to YT practically EVERY update.
