If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren’t available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Feature RequestsLove itCan not get it to work hands free. I've tried everything. I am sure Google is working on this. I need an assistant. Someone that can help hands free. Especially when I am driving. This would be a perfect app if it could access Maps and my Calendar on the fly. Help me get to where I wanna go. Remind me of where I need to be. Play my favorite podcasts and let me know I have orders on the way. Someone that has access to my Blink system and let me know when something was delivered.

AudioHate itGemini is fun, not always productive. At times the way in which Gemini interacts with other applications (or doesn't) renders the application useless. I don't particularly care about how when not in the "conversation" mode you have to continue to monitor the phone and activate the mic manually or voice activate it. My preference would be for it to initialize automatically but this is not a deal breaker. Overall Gemini is intuitive enough and works fine.

BugsHate itUpdatesUpdate as of 12/25/24. You still can't seem to use the Gemini app without switching your assistant. So I tried it out for a bit and reminders don't work. I was using Gemini just a few months ago and now I can't open the app unless I switch from Google Assistant. This is a huge detractor. Gemini is not a good assistant yet, it doesn't easily set reminders for example. But I did want to use it for queries. Can't seem to open the app to do that. Disappointing because it worked a few weeks ago.
