Reddit is a social network with something for everyone: trending topics, diverse discussions, and engaging communities and comment threads.

Redditors have authentic and interesting conversations around all sorts of curated content. You’ll find gaming communities, bloggers, meme-makers, fandoms, travel enthusiasts, support groups, AI forums, news junkies, artists, and creators of all types.

Reddit has over 100,000 online communities (forums where members post and comment) dedicated to specific topics. Some of the most popular communities are:
• r/AskReddit, where users can ask and answer questions
• r/funny, which is full of humorous content
• r/science, for scientific discussions and news
• r/gifs, with funny animated gifs for your viewing pleasure

• Get answers to anonymous questions
Ask communities anything you want. Ask questions on relationships, mental health, parenting, career help, fitness plans, and more.

• Anonymous profiles so you can do YOU
Connect with people about any topic, join interactive community groups or threads, and chat with other redditors, all anonymously.

Voting and Karma:

Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit’s social network runs on upvotes or downvotes. Voting on posts and comments increase or decrease the creator’s karma, and helps popular and relevant posts rise to the top, while filtering out low-quality or irrelevant posts.

While karma doesn’t directly impact your ability to use Reddit, more karma can increase posts’ visibility and help you get noticed. Some communities require karma to post or comment, which helps prevent spam or low-quality content.

Reddit Premium:

Purchase Reddit Premium to enjoy an ads-free experience and access to premium avatar gear, r/lounge, custom app icons, and more.

Payment will be charged on a recurring monthly or annual basis to your Apple account. Your monthly or annual Premium subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription ends. Cancel anytime in your device’s Account Settings. No partial refunds.

I do really enjoy Reddit. Find myself at times thinking I’ll go on for a few minutes, and it’s an hour later. What I don’t like about Reddit is how easily people can have you blocked. Or flagged , kicked off. With what they’re calling hate speech. Or saying you’re a racist. Then you have to fight it each time. I also don’t like how they don’t show what it is you’re being kicked off for. Not until fighting it did I actually know what I actually said. One example for why I was kicked off. It was a feed of Elon Musk’s Trans kid. I said she was a trust fund kid. I said nothing homophobic, racist or sexist. I said she was a trust fund kid. How’s that even bad. I would love to be a trust fund kid. But they had me kicked off for saying that. They said I was a racist and what I said was hate speech. Nobody should have to fight something like that. Of course it was overturned. That god Reddit has rational people taking a look at it. But it shouldn’t even be able to go that far. I also think those people should then be flagged. Or have some type of repercussions for that. It’s bullying. Like I said I really enjoy it a lot. But there are to many groups on here. Where if you don’t agree with them. Then you shouldn’t be able to enjoy Reddit, and they will get you banned so you can’t.

I don’t need to go into what Reddit did when they ended third party clients - there’s plenty of discussion of how horrible that decision was elsewhere. What bothers me is that this first party app is so awful. For months now, there has been a bug where all interaction just freezes up. Can’t scroll or anything, but at least that one isn’t terribly frequent. There *is* a terribly frequent bug where individual links won’t work - no feedback whatsoever when you tap them, not even to say “this couldn’t be loaded.” If this isn’t a bug but rather the underlying post cannot be accessed, then it’s just terrible UX. And for the past week or so, there has been a new and exciting bug where most of the app works, but you can’t interact with the content of comments. This means you can’t click on links and can’t make in-line images larger. These are pretty core functional behaviors that would be caught by regression testing at any competent software firm - or, for that matter, by the one-man development team that made my favorite third party app before Reddit forced him to shut it down with their absurd API fees. You’ll use this app because you have to, because the web browser experience is actively hostile on mobile. But it’s inarguably a worse experience than the alternative apps were a couple years ago, and I can’t wait till a decent alternative service comes along.

I liked to use Reddit to look into information on specific topics and firsthand experiences in certain situations. It’s helpful in that regard, but it is also a platform that allows for groups of people to spew horrible, offensive, and dangerous rhetoric. This has been proven true throughout time, and many individuals have been subjected to extreme pressure and abuse due to Reddit pages that are dedicated to hating one person. I don’t know why Reddit has no problem with this, and it’s a shame that an app as popular as Reddit is known to be okay with allowing its users to say/act however they please. A specific example that is happening currently is the situation regarding Ethan and Hila Klein. For months they subjected to horrible, defamatory comments made about pretty much everything in their life. Criticism is one thing, but these “snarkers” on the Reddit pages dedicated to hating them have called CPS on them. A CPS worker had to waste time and resources by going to their home and investigating the tip that was called in. The line regarding “criticism” has been passed a long time ago. These are real people, with children do not deserve this. And this is ALL happening on Reddit. Reddit is allowing an angry, hateful mob to continue to harass these poor people. So overall, I would say don’t download this app, if you have a question about something simply use another platform to find your answer.
