    Love it

I am so grateful for those people who had the vision to create this app, for those who originally created it and those who are working on improving the app. This app has improved my gospel study, conversion to Christ and improvement of my relationship to Heavenly Father. The tab and note functions have allowed me to easily do things which would have taken years to do with paper scriptures. An example is first searching The Book of Mormon for each occurrence of “Repent” and it’s variants, tagging each occurrence, being able to make notes at each occurrence of the word to identify and categorize the major usage of the word and then making an index in the Notebook identifying which verses can be classified under each major usage category. Using the split screen function on a tablet allows me to have one side open to the tags and the other screen open to the Notebook allowing easy classification of verses into categories. This has been a most enlightening exercise in the mercy and love available from our God.

I never leave reviews, but I just need to communicate that I hate this update! (6.5.1) When redesigning the app to “focus on content rather than user interface”, it eliminated some of the most helpful and useful things about this app. I can read scriptures on paper or online- the point of the app was the user interface!! To get specific, when I updated it deleted all of my open tabs which it’s never done before. Something is broken with my search function so it only works about half the time, and that has been very frustrating. Worst of all it redesigned the Notebook so it only shows me previews of each saved verse and then I have to click on the preview to view the whole passage and then go back. That seems trivial, but it eliminates the ability to view verses side by side in my notebook or compare the notes that I made on each one easily. It also doesn’t let me highlight words anymore (on an iPhone) to easy look up the definition, within the Notebooks.I appreciate the thought, but the functional user interface is the entire point of the app!!

    Customer ServiceHate itUpdates

I’ve been using this app daily for about nine years. Over time I have noticed that every time some new functionality is added, old, good functionality is lost. Specifically disappointing is the following: 1. Many links to verses say that “content is not downloaded,” but it clearly is. I have tried deleted and redownloding the app, the links still don’t work. 2. Many links I have made to institute manuals no longer work. 3. When I tap on a highlight the notes attached to a verse used to stay in order. Now the order constantly changes, which means if I want to delete a note I’m never sure if I’m deleting the right one. 4. In the last update about 20% of all my notes were changed to a very unattractive font. That means I have to change literally hundreds of notes back to the original font. 5. There is no customer support. There is no one who will answer my concerns. I will be very interested to see whether anyone responds to this post. Why can’t you just leave well enough alone? This app could be so good. It really falls short of the mark. The sad thing is that I would have given it four starts about two years ago. It just gets worse and worse. Unfortunately, there’s no competition, and no incentive to create true excellence.
